About the Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin

The Vienna Philharmonic gold coin, which came out for the first time in October 1989, is the most popular investment coin in Europe. The World Gold Council says it was the most popular gold coin in 1992, 1995, 1996, and 2000. Originally, there were a lot of ideas for themes for the coin, but in the end, music won because it is a peaceful language that people all over the world can understand. And of course, you can’t go past the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra from Austria.

The 1 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic was the series’ first coin, released simultaneously as a 1/4-ounce gold coin. Sales quickly dominated and in 1991, a 1/10 oz gold coin was released, and in 1994, a 1/2 oz gold coin was issued. Twenty years later, in 2014, the final addition to the set was a 1/25-oz gold coin. This was created to commemorate the series’ 25th anniversary.

Because they are legal tender, the Austrian government guarantees the coin’s weight and purity. The 1 oz coin has a face value of 100 Euros and contains one troy ounce of 99.99% pure gold (24 carats).

Features of the 1 oz Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin

Thomas Pesendorfer, who was in charge of engraving at the Austrian Mint, designed the coin. On the back, he chose eight typical orchestral instruments: four violins on either side of a cello in the front, and a Viennese horn, a bassoon, and a harp.

The famous pipe organ from the Goldener Saal of Vienna’s Musikverein, known worldwide as the setting for the Philharmonic’s New Year concerts, is on the front of the coin. Friedrich Ladegast built the first organ in 1872. Since then, the organ has been fixed up and replaced several times, most recently in 2011. Even though there have been technical changes, the body of the organ looks the same.

The words “Republik sterreich” are in a half-circle above the organ. Below the organ’s balustrade, the weight and purity of the coin and the date it was made are written. The value of the coin is written along the bottom edge. The edge of the coin has a small ridge.

The coin is presented in protective flips, tubes of 10 coins made of acrylic, or mint-sealed boxes of 100 coins.

These 1 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic coins are distributed in brilliant uncirculated condition and there are over 30 versions available.

Where is my order sent from?

Depending on your purchase, your order will be sent directly from our warehouse or directly from the mint.

How do I know when my order has been sent?

You’ll receive an email with details, including a tracking link, when we send your order. You can also log into your account to view the order status.

How long will it take for my products to arrive?

Once we receive payment, you’ll be sent an email receipt stating it has been paid for, and your products will be sent out within 1-2 business days. Most payments will have a holding period depending on the payment form. For example, if you pay via check, the holding period for payment clearance can take up to 5 business days. Once your product is shipped, you can expect delivery within 1-3 business days, on average, across the US or Canada. This varies depending on the carrier, time of the year (Christmas post is often slower, for example) and other factors.

Do I need to sign for my package?

If your order is valued at under $1,000, you won’t need to sign for it unless you have chosen this option at checkout. More valuable items will need a signature. If you are not home to accept the delivery, you will receive a notification from the shipping company to make other arrangements.

Does insurance cover my purchase during shipment?

Yes! All packages sent by CanAm Bullion are fully insured so if anything happens enroute to your address, it will be covered provided the Terms and Conditions are met. We will investigate and file a claim if the package is lost or stolen.

What do I do if my package has been tampered with?

Shipping insurance ends the moment you sign for your package, so we recommend you refuse any delivery that looks to have been tampered with. If you refuse the package, it will be sent back to CanAm, and we will follow up. Call our customer service team within 48 hours if your product is damaged.

What happens if my order goes missing during shipment?

All packages that CanAm Bullion sends out are insured, provided they meet certain conditions. If your order gets lost in transit (3 days UPS, 7 days USPS), you need to contact us, and we will start a claim process with the shipping company. The claims process can take 30 days or more. If your package arrives after we start the claims process, you must let us know right away.

What happens if my order is broken during shipment?

CanAm sends all our bullion products in high quality packaging, so breakages are highly unlikely. However, should this occur, contact our team within 48 hours of delivery, and we will start the claims process with the shipping company.

What happens if my order never arrived, but the courier says it was delivered?

Packages that have been dispatched to the correct address and have been delivered will not be eligible for a refund or insurance claim from CanAm Bullion. You assume full risk and liability for the shipment once it has been delivered (either by signing for it or by us leaving it at the specified delivery address). CanAm Bullion MUST be notified of any shipment issues within two calendar days of recorded delivery.

Do you offer shipment worldwide?

We currently offer shipment across Canada and the US. Stay tuned for further destinations coming soon.

Do you ship to US territories?

No. We don’t send packages to US territories.

Do you ship to PO Boxes and UPS Stores?

Yes. We can send items to a P.O. Box. However, keep in mind the insurance coverage ends as soon as the package is marked as delivered. We can also ship to UPS Stores, different mail and packing stores, freight forwarders, and more, however, shipping insurance does not cover items sent here.

How do I choose the best shipping method?

You will be given a few options for shipping, including standard delivery and express delivery (for a small fee). You’ll see these options on checkout, so please choose the option that best suits you.
