A Trusted Symbol of Quality British Coins

The Britannia gold coin, one of Europe’s most well-known bullion coins, was first added to The Royal Mint’s bullion collection more than 30 years ago. Each coin is made with the quality, accuracy, and security you’d expect from a world-class mint. The purity of these coins .999 until 2013, when it was changed to .9999.

The 2023 Gold Britannia coin is the last to have Queen Elizabeth II on the front, making it an even more special investment for your collection.

About the 1 oz Britannia Gold coin design

There are two very special features of this coin.

Britannia first appeared on the coins of Emperor Hadrian over 2,000 years ago, and since the mid-1600s, she has appeared on coins throughout every British monarch’s reign. Philip Nathan’s award-winning Britannia design from 1987 has been emblazoned on coins every year since – and the image shows a strong symbol of a nation standing bravely next to a shield with the Union flag on it, which represents how strong Britain is, and holding an olive branch, which stands for peace. Britannia is seen as reassuring and strong and a symbol of British national pride.

As a result of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the British pound is poised to undergo a significant transformation for the first time in many decades. Her Majesty’s portrait has been the sole one on British currency for 70 years. However, the 2023 Britannia coins will be among the final coins produced by the Royal Mint with her image. Jody Clark designed this well-known fifth-generation portrait of the Queen in 2015.

Features of the 1 oz Britannia Gold coin

On one side of the coin is a picture of Queen Elizabeth II, which is standard for all money that can be spent legally in the UK. The words “Queen Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina” are written around the coin’s edge. The face value of the coin, which is £100, is written at the bottom.

On the other side is a picture of Lady Britannia, first used by the Roman Empire around 54 AD to represent the British Isles. Around the coin are the words “One Ounce Fine Gold, Britannia,” and at the bottom is the year the coin was made. Newer designs have special security features that have been added over time.

Security features of the 2023 coin include a moving wave texture in the background, a hidden security image, tincture lines on the Union Jack shield, and a micro-text engraving around the design field.

These coins are available as a single purchase, in acrylic tubes of 10 coins, or mint-sealed boxes of 100 coins. The 1 oz Britannia Gold coins are distributed in uncirculated condition and protected with delivery in a protective case. The British Britannia gold coin also comes in sizes of 1/20 ounce, 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, and 1/2 ounce.

Where is my order sent from?

Depending on your purchase, your order will be sent directly from our warehouse or directly from the mint.

How do I know when my order has been sent?

You’ll receive an email with details, including a tracking link, when we send your order. You can also log into your account to view the order status.

How long will it take for my products to arrive?

Once we receive payment, you’ll be sent an email receipt stating it has been paid for, and your products will be sent out within 1-2 business days. Most payments will have a holding period depending on the payment form. For example, if you pay via check, the holding period for payment clearance can take up to 5 business days. Once your product is shipped, you can expect delivery within 1-3 business days, on average, across the US or Canada. This varies depending on the carrier, time of the year (Christmas post is often slower, for example) and other factors.

Do I need to sign for my package?

If your order is valued at under $1,000, you won’t need to sign for it unless you have chosen this option at checkout. More valuable items will need a signature. If you are not home to accept the delivery, you will receive a notification from the shipping company to make other arrangements.

Does insurance cover my purchase during shipment?

Yes! All packages sent by CanAm Bullion are fully insured so if anything happens enroute to your address, it will be covered provided the Terms and Conditions are met. We will investigate and file a claim if the package is lost or stolen.

What do I do if my package has been tampered with?

Shipping insurance ends the moment you sign for your package, so we recommend you refuse any delivery that looks to have been tampered with. If you refuse the package, it will be sent back to CanAm, and we will follow up. Call our customer service team within 48 hours if your product is damaged.

What happens if my order goes missing during shipment?

All packages that CanAm Bullion sends out are insured, provided they meet certain conditions. If your order gets lost in transit (3 days UPS, 7 days USPS), you need to contact us, and we will start a claim process with the shipping company. The claims process can take 30 days or more. If your package arrives after we start the claims process, you must let us know right away.

What happens if my order is broken during shipment?

CanAm sends all our bullion products in high quality packaging, so breakages are highly unlikely. However, should this occur, contact our team within 48 hours of delivery, and we will start the claims process with the shipping company.

What happens if my order never arrived, but the courier says it was delivered?

Packages that have been dispatched to the correct address and have been delivered will not be eligible for a refund or insurance claim from CanAm Bullion. You assume full risk and liability for the shipment once it has been delivered (either by signing for it or by us leaving it at the specified delivery address). CanAm Bullion MUST be notified of any shipment issues within two calendar days of recorded delivery.

Do you offer shipment worldwide?

We currently offer shipment across Canada and the US. Stay tuned for further destinations coming soon.

Do you ship to US territories?

No. We don’t send packages to US territories.

Do you ship to PO Boxes and UPS Stores?

Yes. We can send items to a P.O. Box. However, keep in mind the insurance coverage ends as soon as the package is marked as delivered. We can also ship to UPS Stores, different mail and packing stores, freight forwarders, and more, however, shipping insurance does not cover items sent here.

How do I choose the best shipping method?

You will be given a few options for shipping, including standard delivery and express delivery (for a small fee). You’ll see these options on checkout, so please choose the option that best suits you.
