Invest in British History Today

The £2 Britannia Silver Coin is the largest and purest legal coin in the UK, made of 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The Britannia symbol has been on British coins since 1672 and is one of the world’s most well-known and respected coins. An ideal addition to your collection, particularly as the 2023 release will be the last to feature Queen Elizabeth II.

About the Royal Mint’s Design

The Royal Mint is responsible for the production of the Britannia coin and it is the United Kingdom’s official mint. It produces all the country’s official coinage, including currency-acceptable bullion coins.

The London Mint was founded in 886 AD, making it one of the world’s oldest mints. In the 1800s, the mint thrived and established branches in Canada (which subsequently became the Royal Canadian Mint) and Australia (Perth Mint).

The Royal Mint produces a variety of bullion for the United Kingdom, including the Britannia series, which is also available in gold, silver, and platinum.

Since its inception, the coin has featured Queen Elizabeth II on the front. Queen Elizabeth II’s reign was the longest in history, and during that time, five different portraits of the Queen appeared on British and Commonwealth coins. These are the last Silver Britannia coins with her image following her death in 2022.

Features of the 1 oz Britannia Silver coin

On the back of these coins is a design by Philip Nathan of Britannia. The Royal Mint chose Nathan’s design after he won an art contest in 1987. The design shows Britannia on the ocean, with a trident in her right hand and a shield in her left. It represents England’s long history of sailing and strong naval tradition. The Union Jack is on the shield, which protects the British Isles, and the trident gives Britannia power over the seas.

Queen Elizabeth II features on the front of the coin. Jody Clark completed this design in 2015 to feature on coins from the Royal Mint after 2016. It shows the Queen from the right side, with the Royal Diadem crown on her head. The 2023 version of this coin will be the last to feature Queen Elizabeth II following her death in 2022.

A background surface animation and a latent security feature are some of the more detailed security features. When the viewing angle changes, the surface animation moves like ocean waves, and the hidden security feature changes from a padlock to a trident. On the 2023 coin, new security features have been added to make it even safer, including tiny text that says “Decus et Tutamen,” which means “An ornament and a safeguard”, and tincture lines on Britannia’s shield.

Where is my order sent from?

Depending on your purchase, your order will be sent directly from our warehouse or directly from the mint.

How do I know when my order has been sent?

You’ll receive an email with details, including a tracking link, when we send your order. You can also log into your account to view the order status.

How long will it take for my products to arrive?

Once we receive payment, you’ll be sent an email receipt stating it has been paid for, and your products will be sent out within 1-2 business days. Most payments will have a holding period depending on the payment form. For example, if you pay via check, the holding period for payment clearance can take up to 5 business days. Once your product is shipped, you can expect delivery within 1-3 business days, on average, across the US or Canada. This varies depending on the carrier, time of the year (Christmas post is often slower, for example) and other factors.

Do I need to sign for my package?

If your order is valued at under $1,000, you won’t need to sign for it unless you have chosen this option at checkout. More valuable items will need a signature. If you are not home to accept the delivery, you will receive a notification from the shipping company to make other arrangements.

Does insurance cover my purchase during shipment?

Yes! All packages sent by CanAm Bullion are fully insured so if anything happens enroute to your address, it will be covered provided the Terms and Conditions are met. We will investigate and file a claim if the package is lost or stolen.

What do I do if my package has been tampered with?

Shipping insurance ends the moment you sign for your package, so we recommend you refuse any delivery that looks to have been tampered with. If you refuse the package, it will be sent back to CanAm, and we will follow up. Call our customer service team within 48 hours if your product is damaged.

What happens if my order goes missing during shipment?

All packages that CanAm Bullion sends out are insured, provided they meet certain conditions. If your order gets lost in transit (3 days UPS, 7 days USPS), you need to contact us, and we will start a claim process with the shipping company. The claims process can take 30 days or more. If your package arrives after we start the claims process, you must let us know right away.

What happens if my order is broken during shipment?

CanAm sends all our bullion products in high quality packaging, so breakages are highly unlikely. However, should this occur, contact our team within 48 hours of delivery, and we will start the claims process with the shipping company.

What happens if my order never arrived, but the courier says it was delivered?

Packages that have been dispatched to the correct address and have been delivered will not be eligible for a refund or insurance claim from CanAm Bullion. You assume full risk and liability for the shipment once it has been delivered (either by signing for it or by us leaving it at the specified delivery address). CanAm Bullion MUST be notified of any shipment issues within two calendar days of recorded delivery.
